The New Year has started with a bang at Jung Suwon Supermartial Arts, at our new facility! Now that our Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim is back from her extended stay in Korea, and has been coming to class just as often as her busy schedule allows, our school has been exploding with new students of all ages, all sizes, and from all walks of life!
If you are already a student at Jung Suwon, and if you are already yellow belt and above, please help make our new Jung Suwon warriors feel right at home, and welcome! Introduce yourself, and see what you can do to help out. For example, if someone isn’t quite sure yet how to tie a belt, or if it’s a very young warrior, give them a hand and show them how. If they are a bit insecure as to what to do when they enter the Do Jang, walk in with them and show them again. Pass on what our teacher Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has showed us.
Think back to the time when you first started to train, and how you felt. Weren’t you glad that you had some students walk up to you and show you around? Remember the warm smiles, and also remember your first classes and how awkward you felt in those “white pajamas, and how comforting it was to have people smile at you and reassure you that no matter how you did in your first class – everyone starts somewhere!
HE CAN DO, SHE CAN DO, WHY NOT ME!
At Jung Suwon, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim teaches us that the power is in us, and it is our personal choice what we do in our lives. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim furthers says that she is “only” making us aware of the power and gifts we already have in us, and shows us how to develop them and to become the best we can be.
Master Jonathan Palmer started training at Jung Suwon when he was only 4 years old, and was, to be honest, a spoiled brat. Over the years, though, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim helped him to focus his energy, and develop into a wonderful young warrior.
Today, not only is he a Master Instructor at Jung Suwon, helping many children and adults alike, he also is very successful at his job at a high-tech company.
Here, Master Palmer is taking Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s teachings to heart and performs a beautiful backflip break.

Today we have a special treat for you. In yesterday’s Jung Suwon class, the young warriors got a wonderful change of pace. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim had asked GM Fell to have an intense, yet fun class for all the Jung Suwon warriors, and that is just what he did!
Watch this video – be sure and turn on your sounds – and we are sure it will make you want to jump right into class!
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim says, “Celebrate every living breath, as if it was your last breath!” And at Jung Suwon, we do that in every class!

This past Saturday, May 26th, we have had a very private Black Belt Testing at Jung Suwon. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim tested our three mature warriors, ranging from age 61 – 72, for the next level black belt.
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim had invited a few very special guests and wowed them with an incredible program, including the use of new breaking materials.
Mr. Greg Dumas, Mr. Bert McMahon and Mr. Harrison Peoples were on deck and did a most fantastic job. More on that in the next post though, plus an exciting video to show you highlights of what happened.
Meanwhile, here is a beautiful and all new Jung Suwon self-defense routine performed by Ms. Nabi White and Master Jonathan Palmer.
We had a great, fantastic belt ceremony last Friday! Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim was personally sharing so much of her wisdom with all of the students! It was a wonderful evening, celebrating the accomplishments of so many Jung Suwon Warriors, and setting new goals.
Remember 5-year old acorn warrior Zachary, who recited the Jung Suwon warrior oath so well? You saw him in this video: http://youtu.be/v-X8dHBqFBo and this one: http://youtu.be/gnkahEnZ91s
He was so excited to receive his yellow belt and asked the Jung Suwon staff daily, if he passed. But on Belt Ceremony day, he was very very sick! And contagious at that! What could he do to still receive his belt that he had worked so hard for?
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has a big heart, and so little Zachary was linked in on a computer, and was able to watch ‘his’ belt ceremony. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim presented Zachary’s belt to his father, and several awards as well, among them the “Best Student” award!
Let’s congratulate Zachary on his great accomplishments, and wish him a speedy recovery!

This summer we are in for a real treat! Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim just announced that on some weekend this summer, Jung Suwon will go back to basics for a day – out into the woods, into the mountains, to give Jung Suwon warriors young and old a little taste of traditional training!
But what is Jung Suwon back to basics training? Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim points out that while we cannot go back in time, what we can do is go out into nature and connect with it similar how the olden time Masters trained their students. Since we live in the here and now, in the 21st Century, we do have to adapt somewhat.
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim further invites us to experience Ki energy straight from nature, to learn to connect and utilize that Ki energy in our daily lives. You will come back with increased self-confidence, motivation, Inner Power, inner peace, appreciation for team work, just to name a few.
Here are some pictures to help you visualize what you might experience that day:
So, come on over to Jung Suwon, and let Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim know you want to sign up!

Our Jung SuWon Martial Art Academy; Principle #2 says “Learn from your mistakes”. And goes on to expand on that saying that mistakes are our feed back system. Often times when we make mistakes we feel bad and so we shun them. But they can be viewed as the fuel for our future success. Take your mistakes – acknowledge them – use them as the evidence and the reasons why we now CAN correct them. If we try to hide then the opposite happens. We don’t acknowledge them and we almost litterlly can’t correct them!
Have a great day!
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s motto is “He can do, She can do, Why not me!”. Say it to yourself over and over again. Have it running in the back ground in your mind. Choose to take the high road. Choose to think positive. Turn negative thoughts into positive ones. Multiply positive thoughts into multiple positive thoughts. Remember the saying “Don’t go there… don’t go down that road.” When you are traveling to a location far away you don’t choose one way dead end streets. Same when you choose a goal don’t choose thoughts that try to destroy that goal. Choose thoughts that pull you up and carry you along. Remember that motivational poster called “Footprints”. A person was walking with the Lord, there were two sets of foot prints in the sand, later there were only one set of prints on the sand, the person asked Lord why did you abandon me at that time… the Lord replied it was I who was carrying you… those are my single set of foot prints at that time.” Ask for help when you need it. Have a satalite view Dr. Kim tells us.
You are one of a kind!
